Discover Tanzania like never before with our exceptional journey between Ndutu and the Ngorongoro Crater. Immerse yourself in a symphony of breathtaking landscapes and iconic wildlife, experiencing an adventure that will remain etched in your memories forever. With our tailor-made tours and expert guides, we guarantee an unforgettable journey, permeated with endless adventures and wonders.
Ndutu: This region is famous for being home to one of the world’s largest animal migrations, where thousands of wildebeest and zebras traverse the vast grasslands in search of greener pastures. It’s an incredible natural spectacle that attracts photography enthusiasts and nature lovers from around the world. During this time, millions of herbivores give birth to their offspring, creating incredible natural dynamics between prey and predators.
Ngorongoro Crater: It is an ancient volcanic crater that hosts a wide variety of animal species, including endangered black rhinos. It is one of the few places in the world where you can still spot the “Big Five” (lions, leopards, elephants, buffaloes, and rhinos) in such a concentrated area, offering a unique experience for safari enthusiasts.
Tour information:
Welcome to the detailed information about the tour that will take you on an unprecedented journey through two natural jewels of Tanzania: Ndutu and the Ngorongoro Crater. During the unforgettable 8 nights of this adventure, you will have the opportunity to thoroughly explore the majesty of wildlife and the unique ecosystem that characterizes these extraordinary destinations.
The tour will be divided into two fundamental phases, with 2 nights in Karatu dedicated to exploration and safari in the picturesque Ngorongoro Crater, followed by 5 magical nights in Ndutu during the birthing season, which takes place in the lush month of January. You will witness the miraculous rebirth of life in the prairies, with lush greenery enveloping the entire landscape, giving rise to an engaging natural spectacle of prey and predators that seems straight out of a documentary.
To ensure your maximum comfort and an optimal photographic experience, we provide specially designed jeeps for photographers with large windows, ideal for photography enthusiasts who want to capture every moment to the fullest. Additionally, you will have the expertise of four experienced safari photographers who will accompany you throughout the journey, providing valuable assistance and advice from the planning phase.
You will sleep in authentic “safari tents,” which, despite their outward appearance, conceal a true African-style setup. Inside, you will find comfortable beds, a private bathroom, and running water, offering the perfect mix of relaxation and an authentic African adventure.
Conclude your extraordinary journey with a serene and relaxing final night in Arusha. Recommended photographic equipment:
To capture the finest details and essence of these fascinating animals, we recommend using DSLR, mirrorless, or bridge cameras equipped with lenses ranging from 200mm to 500mm. This range of focal lengths will enable you to capture sharp and properly proportioned images!
We will primarily be shooting from our jeep, which will serve as a stable support for taking steady shots. No tripod is necessary; instead, we recommend using a Bean Bag (you can request more information from the organizers).
During this trip, you will have the assistance of an experienced professional photographer who will help you optimize the use of your photographic equipment.
Our photographer will be present to offer personalized advice and help you make the most of your camera and lenses. You will have the opportunity to learn advanced techniques in composition, light control, camera settings, and more.
Photographic Vehicle
To make the most of this tour, we will use jeeps specially equipped for photographers.
These cars have been modified with the removal of the windows, the reduction of 4 of the 6 seats and a soft cover for the entire passenger compartment. These modifications allow an opening of approximately 2.5 meters on the sides, offering extraordinary freedom of movement. The absence of seats allows you to take photographs comfortably in any situation, ensuring sufficient space for each photographer.
Each vehicle will be used by only three photographers, thus ensuring ample space to tackle every photographic situation with comfort.
Luxuri Safari Tents
The name can easily be misleading! The external appearance might seem like that of a tent, it’s true, but once you cross the threshold, you find yourself immersed in refined African-style furnishings. A four-poster bed, elegant mosquito nets, electrical sockets and a bathroom equipped with hot running water and a shower offer all possible comforts, despite being in the middle of nowhere.
It is important to remember that we are in the middle of the savannah, and taking electricity, water and other services for granted is a common mistake. However, for us, this will not pose any problem. We will be immersed in an authentic experience, full of true African flavour.
Day by Day Program:
Day 1
Arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport by 10.00 AM, private transfer of approximately 3.30 hours to our first lodge, at the gates of Ngorongoro. Here we will have a relaxing afternoon to rest after the trip and better prepare for the intense days ahead.
Day 2
Wake up before dawn for breakfast and departure for the Ngorongoro Crater. We will enter the crater as early as possible to optimize sighting possibilities. Packed lunch and at around 3.00 pm we will leave the crater to move towards the most important part of this tour, the Ndutu plains. The journey will last approximately 3 hours during which we could already admire infinite herds of wildebeest and zebras on the move and with a bit of luck the first cheetahs and hyenas!
They will then welcome us from our new camp immersed in the savannah! Here we will spend 5 unforgettable nights.
Accommodation in tents, dinner and overnight stay.
Days from 3 to 6
The program will remain unchanged in the next few days, with breakfast served before dawn, at 5.30, and departure set for 6. We will have a packed lunch with us and we will take advantage of every minute of light for animal research activities and photography. During these days, we will focus mainly on births and predators, looking for lions, leopards, hyenas, cheetahs, caracals, servals, as well as all the classic herbivores such as wildebeest, zebra, eland, impala, Thompson’s gazelle, dik-dik and many other species.
The birdlife will be equally fascinating, with the possibility of spotting snakes, ostriches, European rollers, lilac-breasted rollers, weavers, greater and lesser flamingos, and numerous birds of prey on each safari.
Full day safaris will certainly be demanding, but the vehicles at our disposal will allow us to maintain comfortable positions and rest during the course of the day. There will be regular breaks throughout the day, during which we will get off the jeep in safe areas with our guides to stretch our legs and eat meals. Spending a lot of time in the field will certainly be essential to obtain incredible sightings.
Day 7
We will wake up again before dawn, following the usual routine, for the last morning safari experience in the Ndutu area. We will dedicate the morning further exploring the birth area, gradually moving towards the Serengeti region. During the safari activities, we will begin our journey towards the NgoroNgoro Crater, with the intention of concluding this extraordinary adventure.
In the afternoon we will arrive at the new and fascinating lodge located on the top of the crater. Here we will have the opportunity to rest and admire the extraordinary panorama for our last night in the wild heart of Tanzania.
Day 8
We will get up early for breakfast and leave at first light for a final and spectacular descent into the Ngorongoro crater. We will enter the magic of this place at the first light of dawn, perhaps surrounded by a light mist, for an unforgettable full day safari. We will explore the best areas of Ngorongoro in search of memorable sceneries, thus completing our experience in beauty.
We will take our classic lunch break and continue the activities into the early afternoon. We will leave the crater around 4pm, then head very calmly towards Arusha and then Kilimanjaro Airport.
For the night, we will have the pleasure of staying in a 4-star hotel just a few minutes from the airport, where we can rest and share one last relaxing evening together.
Day 9
We have come to the end of this unforgettable experience. We will have a last breakfast together and close our bags. Transfers can leave from the hotel at any time, so you can wait at the hotel until the check-in time for your flight.
If you fly in the evening, it will be possible to request a late check-out to spend more time at the hotel.
