Tour Informations:

We will meet in Madrid, and from there, we will head to the beautiful plateaus of the Segovia region using a private transfer. Our destination is a charming village in the heart of this area. We will be staying at a welcoming and strategically located local hotel, which allows us to easily reach all 9 different locations within a few minutes.

This itinerary provides an exceptional opportunity to observe more than 50 different bird species, including some very rare ones. The hides we will use offer us the chance to photograph various species such as the Solitary Sparrow, Red-headed Shrike, Black-eared Eagle, Golden Eagle, Monk Vulture, Egyptian Vulture, Griffin, Owls, Bee-eaters, Hoopoes, Green and Red Woodpeckers, and many more!

We will have two photo sessions each day. The hides will enable us to photograph in different settings, from open fields to the interiors of pine forests, ensuring the presence of various species. There will also be hides dedicated to vultures and birds of prey!

This is undoubtedly the best time of the year to visit this area, and as with all our tours, we pay attention to every detail. The season is crucial as life in these areas flourishes in spring with the presence of migratory birds that nest here. This gives us the opportunity to observe both resident and migratory species.

Each location is carefully chosen, with natural perches and clean backgrounds to ensure perfect shots. The lighting is managed impeccably, adjusting locations based on the movement of the sun.

All the hides will be exclusively for our group’s use.

Throughout the entire trip, you will have a professional photographer with relevant photography and wildlife skills at your disposal. They will assist you in identifying species and optimizing your photographs, and they will be available to answer any questions you may have during the tour.

Difficulty: SIMPLE

There are no excursions or other physically trying activities. Walking will be short and in flat areas.

Destination:

Located north of Madrid, the area we explore offers an extraordinary variety of landscapes and natural habitats. This region includes spectacular canyons, breathtaking plateaus, and vast pine forests, creating a mosaic of rich and diverse ecosystems.

The canyons and gorges in this area are often carved by rivers and streams, resulting in stunning landscapes. The plateaus offer open spaces and picturesque views, while the pine forests provide shelter to a rich birdlife.

This territory is characterized by a continental climate, with cold winters and hot, dry summers. The variations in altitude contribute to a remarkable diversity of climatic conditions, creating ideal habitats for a wide range of animal and plant species.

This geographical and climatic richness makes the area an exceptional place for wildlife observation and nature photography, allowing you to capture the beauty of nature in all its nuances.

Among the main species that can be observed from various hides, we include:

Little owl, egyptian vulture, griffon vulture, black kite, Red kite, Golden Eagle, Common Buzzard, Sparrow-Hawk,Bee-eaters, Green Woodpecker, Great-spotted Woodpecker,, black starling, crested tit, nuthatch, black redstart, jackdaw, Hawfinch, european Turtle Doves, mistle Thrush, azure winged-magpie, Bonelli warbler, subalpine warbler,  Blue-rock Thrush, Woodchat shrike, black -eared wheatear,Orphean warbler, firecrest, swallow, cirl bunting, goldfinch, raven, linnet and many other fascinating species.

Photographic activities:

Six of our photography sessions on this tour will take place inside specially designed hides tailored to meet the needs of every nature photographer. These hides have been meticulously planned to provide clean backgrounds, natural settings, and impeccable light management.

Each hide is equipped with a 4mm anti-reflective glass that allows observation of animals at sometimes very close distances while preserving the details and colors of the images. Moreover, the glass provides the opportunity to move freely within the hide, allowing us to follow the animals with our lenses without being perceived, even by very elusive species like golden eagles.

The perches and photography spots are arranged at an optimal distance for capturing our shots. The available hides range in size from 2 to 4 seats. The group will sometimes be divided to occupy preferred locations, with daily occupation planning based on bird activity and light orientation.

Additionally, a seventh photography session takes place outside the hides, in a fascinating canyon. Here, you will have the opportunity to capture in-flight photos of griffon vultures, black vultures, and other birds, all in a breathtaking landscape.

Photo equipment needed and rentals:

This itinerary provides ample space for expressing your photographic creativity. The diverse environments and wildlife diversity will allow you to use a wide range of focal lengths. Therefore, you don’t need to have specific lenses, but some lenses prove ideal for fully exploiting the opportunities offered.

Zoom lenses will certainly be very useful due to their versatility, allowing you to capture both portraits and environmental shots. Prime lenses, while less versatile, can offer the opportunity to focus on interesting compositions and bokeh. Our advice is to have a wide-angle lens (between 16 and 35 mm) in your backpack for capturing landscapes and animals in their habitat, and a telephoto lens with a focal length greater than 300 mm for distance portraits.

A crucial accessory will be a tripod, which will help you maintain stability in your photos, especially when using long focal lengths.
